Folk people in Sri lanka use these poems to express their feelings. People (in villages) who are doing different occupation like farming, carrying goods by carts, boatman, working in mines, etc. They sing poems for make away of loneliness,  weariness and express their sorrow and troubles that they had to face in their work.

And also they use poems to express their happiness and love.

But now with the technological development and people use it for their works these poems bereave from the society. I'm trying to collect our "jana kavi" and give to you. Because this is a part of our heritage. We want to move with new world. But we have a responsibility to protect our culture. We can't find it in another country. Sri Lanka has great civilized culture. We have to protect it.
